FCA Frisco Band & Orchestra T-Shirt Design Competition
Calling all FCA Frisco musicians and artists!
At FCA Frisco we are introducing T-Shirts for Band and Orchestra for the first time. Shirts will be made available for purchase through the Fine Arts Booster Club this summer – purchases are optional but we hope that our students will buy them as there will be many opportunities to wear these shirts when representing FCA Frisco at auditions and other events.
But wait! We’re getting ahead of ourselves here – because first we need to design our shirts! We want to stand out from the crowd with creative designs and slogans and we want you, our students to create those designs and slogans!
Our competition is open to all current 5th through 9th grade students. The closing date for entries is Friday, May 15th. Below you will find the competition rules and guidelines. If anyone has questions or needs further assistance please contact me, Jane Sleeth via email janesleeth@yahoo.com.
Competition Guidelines for Students:
All current FCA 5th through 9th grade students can enter the competition. Each student is allowed to enter one design for the front of either the band and/or orchestra shirts along with one suggested slogan or quote for the back of our shirts.
There will be two winners selected, one winning entry for band and one for orchestra. Our winners will each receive two free T-shirts incorporating their winning designs.
Designs must be all your own work without the use of any computer applications, clip art, third party or copyrighted materials.
Our T-shirt background colors will be a choice of either white or pale blue like the school polo shirts – so you can use a variety of colors for your designs but no more than 5 different colors. (Why you ask? Because the more colors we incorporate the more expensive the T-shirts will be to print!)
Designs must be created on solid white plain paper. The maximum image size for your design for the front of our T-shirts is 11 inches in width and 15 inches in depth (your design can be smaller but not larger).
If you use crayons or pencils make sure you do not draw lightly - to recreate your images on our shirts the images must be very clear - the bolder the better!
Our T-shirts will be short sleeved with a high round neck as shown in the template below.
The back of the shirt will feature a small image of the FCA Griffin at the top and beneath this the wording will read FCA Frisco Band or FCA Frisco Orchestra. Below this we want to incorporate a slogan or a quote. We are looking for slogans or quotes that reflect the key values of a classical education. Be imaginative and creative! The slogan or quote must be original and all your own work.
Entries should be submitted with a photo of your front of T-shirt design along with your suggested slogan for the back of the shirt. Please also provide student name, grade, the exact size of your design and whether your entry is for band and/or orchestra.
Our esteemed judges will be Mr.Peart and Mr.Sprouls. Winning entries will be announced on May 22nd.
