Our goals

A key goal of the Founders Classical Academy Frisco visual arts program is for art education in our school to have a lasting impact in a classical sense upon our students

Our visual arts program is tied to our overall academic program and classical approach to education, linking closely to study programs in History, Literature, Geography and Latin

We want to offer our students a visual arts program that enables them to develop their artistic skills and learn the history of art

We want our students to represent our school in competitive events and exhibitions and if they elect to take art in high school, to be able to compile a classical art portfolio to present to art schools

Our needs

We set out with the goal of raising funds in order to provide our students with additional mediums for a fuller exploration of art, including

  • Pottery, for which we need a kiln and materials

  • Printing, for which we needed a printing press, linoleum blocks, wooden blocks, carving tools and consumables

  • Photography, for which we need cameras, computers, printers and consumables

  • Painting, for which we needed high quality acrylic and oil paints, canvases and other consumables

We wanted to enable our amazing art teachers to utilize these mediums to also educate our students on the history of art. With the acquisition of a printing press for our school, students can explore the development and importance of printing and the role of the printing press throughout the ages, in the revolution and reformation for example. They will learn about the freedom press.

Thanks to the generosity of our FCAF families the FAB team are very proud to be able to say that during the 2021-2022 school year we were able to provide acrylic paints, canvases, watercolor paints and paper to our MS and HS enabling our students to work with those mediums for the very first time. We also purchased some special art supplies for our Elementary school , such as pop art paints used in some new fun projects.

We are extremely proud to report that this summer we purchased a large printing press and printing supplies for our HS facilitating the introduction of the first Printmaking 101 classes which begin in August 2022. We have also purchased screen printing materials and paints as well as additional watercolor paints and paper for MS and are purchasing acrylic paints and boards for Elementary so our youngest students will also get to experience acrylic painting in the 2022-23 school year.

Of course, continuing to offer painting and printing mean we need to continue to fundraise to provide replacement paints, paper, canvases, screen printing and printing supplies. Our hope is to facilitate the continued expansion of additional mediums with which our students get to work.

Other needs we need to fund and meet include:

  • Enhancing our art class room facilities to enable our students to paint in an appropriate environment: with a platform and easy electrical access and better lighting

  • Adding more art storage facilities, such as shelving and space within which to store 3D art work

  • Providing more materials for our art classrooms, such as those required by our third graders for their mosaic making project where they learn about art forms in Roman times

We need your donations to support our visual arts program, our teachers and our students!
