FCA Frisco FABulous Artists Exhibition Information
Mark your calendars FCA Frisco families for our very first art show!
We wanted all our families to be able to view the art work that our FCA students are producing. We think you will be pretty impressed! We will have over 1,000 pieces of art work on display, all produced by our students, from Kindergarten through 9th grade. Every student will be represented. So bring all the family!
The FCA Frisco FABulous Artists Exhibition will take place at FCA Frisco in the lower school building on Friday the 17th of April. Doors will open at 6pm and the event will end at 8pm.
One of our goals at FCA Frisco is to bring together both our music and arts programs at our fine arts events. At the art exhibition we will have several string ensembles performing, conducted by Wesley Peart our orchestra director. We have also invited our 9th grade girls’ choir, led by Mary Kenesa Mobisa, to sing at the event. They are working on some Sound of Music pieces. So come along and listen to our students’ musical performances and then enjoy browsing the hallways to view the amazing art work on display.
Speaking of which, I made a recent visit to the school to discuss and plan for the exhibition with Martin Longoria and Holly Jo Camp, our amazing upper and lower school art teachers. While there I got the opportunity to view some of the art work our students have been creating. I have to tell you we have some incredibly talented artists! I was so impressed with what I saw and it was clear to me just how invested both Martin Longoria and Holly Jo Camp are in building and developing the visual arts program at FCA Frisco. They were both thrilled at the news that we would be holding the art exhibition and are looking forward to sharing with you some of the many art projects they are working on with our students this school year.
To learn more about the goals for the visual arts program at FCA Frisco, please visit the Visual Arts page on this website. There is so much more we would like to provide for our amazing art teachers and students so that in preparing for future exhibitions and in building competition and college admission portfolios our students can incorporate pottery, photography, painting and printing.
You can help us achieve these goals in many ways! On our Ways to Help page you will find more information including a step by step guide on signing up for Kroger Community Rewards and/or the Tom Thumb Good Neighbor Program. It’s easy, it’s free and we receive much needed funds in return!
Hosting an art exhibition of this magnitude takes a lot of effort. We are going to need some assistance in the weeks leading up to the exhibition. Let me know if you are willing to help us make this art show a huge success! Contact me at janesleeth@yahoo.com. Thank you!
I took some photos of the art work to share with you and to give you an idea of what’s in store for you all when you visit the exhibition in April. As you can see below, our lower school students have been working on a variety of projects.
Our fifth grade students have done some beautiful drawings of pumpkins and teddy bears. Our fourth grade students have been drawing bowls of fruit. Our third graders got to grips incredibly well with learning to copy art work with some beautiful drawings of Pinocchio who is not an easy subject to draw! Our younger students learnt the poem “I Never Saw A Purple Cow” and then drew some purple cows of their own! Also some purple snails!, cats and owls! Our very youngest students also painted some beautiful pumpkins too.
Our middle school students have been learning some new art skills, creating two dimensional drawings. Our 7th grade students learnt all about pointillism and created their own masterpieces of famous historical buildings. Our upper school 9th graders have been creating poems within poems and accompanying art work as well as making their own modern day versions of some well known masterpieces such as the interpretation below of the joker.
So, come and join us on Friday, April 17th for a wonderful evening of amazing art work and fine music. I look forward to seeing you there!
